Keira Knightley

Knightley, born in London in the family consisting of actor Will Knightley & Sharman Macdonald as young as six years old was the first actress to be employed by TV commercials and films. The role she played was a small one as Sabe in the science fiction film Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999). After gaining international fame as a character in the fantasy show Pirates of the Caribbean in 2003, as Elizabeth Swann (a swashbuckling footballer), she was able to appear in the sports film Bend It Like Beckham in which she portrayed the teen. She was in the romance film Love Actually (2003) and was called a promising teenager movie star. Knightley won the Academy Award nod for Best Actress in 2005, for her performance as Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine of the romantic historical novel Pride & Prejudice. The actress appeared in a myriad of period dramas in which she played a complicated love relationship In Atonement (2007), tastemaker Georgiana Cavendish on The Duchess (2008), and the titular socialite in Anna Karenina (2012). The actress also appeared in contemporary dramas in Begin Again (2013), playing an aspirant singer as a musician in Begin Again (2013) and a physician in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014). Knightley made a return to dramatic dramas from the past, as Joan Clarke, in The Imitation Game and earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
